The Wellington Lions took on the Southland Stags in a wet and cold Westpac Stadium on Thursday 24 September. Despite the scoreboard showing plenty of scoring (a healthy 32-13 to Wellington), the game never reached any great heights, and too often resembled a game of force-back.
The match was notable for being refereed by Wayne Barnes. Barnes, as you may remember, was the young Englishman who oversaw the All Blacks' 2007 Rugby World Cup quarter-final against France.
Oh, and it was raining quite steadily during the match. I didn't think it would show up in my photos, but it has — what looks like noise is most likely raindrops.
